Paris Saint-Germain secured their fifth Ligue 1 title in six seasons on Sunday night as they overcame Nice by a comfortable 3-1 scoreline at Parc des Princes.
The visitors dominated the first half and had several chances to take the lead, but it was PSG who took the lead early in the second half through a free-kick from Lionel Messi. The Argentine forward curled a beautiful effort into the top corner from just outside the box, giving him his fourth goal of the season.
Nice responded immediately though, with a well-taken equalizer from Brazilian striker Victor Osimhen. However, it was Neymar who stole the show for PSG, providing two assists in the space of three minutes to secure all three points for his team.
The first came after Nice failed to clear a cross, allowing Neymar to cut inside and fire a shot past the goalkeeper. The second came in the dying stages of the game, when he picked out Angel Di Maria for a cross that found Edinson Cavani unmarked at the back post.
Despite missing out on the Champions League due to financial restrictions, PSG have been one of the standout teams in Europe this season. They have won every single match they have played so far in Ligue 1 and sit at the top of the table with a record 24 wins from their opening 25 games.
With the Ligue 1 title firmly in their grasp, Paris Saint-Germain now turn their attention to the UEFA Champions League where they will face Manchester United in the group stage next month. With the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Sergio Ramos, and Neymar leading the way, there is no doubt that PSG will be among the favorites to win the competition again.
